spreadsheet

Today, we started our class with ten mental math question, the first five question is about spreadsheet and the second five question is about how to solve 9 multiply by two number, for example: 9x43

Then after the mental math, Mr. Korupatwa showed us, how does spreadsheet works. The letters that we see in the upper part of the spreadsheet is called “Column” and the number in the right side of the spreadsheet is what we called “row”. then the letters or text inside the cell is what we called “label” and the number inside the cell is we called “value”, and then the last one we can see in from the spreadsheet is called formula, for example: =SUM(B12+G5) that’s how formula look like………I hope this is good enough!

The next scribe will be……………..almond

Spreadsheets are very useful to learn how to use. I even use them sometimes at the university. They will help you a lot when you are calculating wages because you only have to enter one equation and the spreadsheet will take care of the rest for you. I learned how to use them in information processing, not math, but I think they are better to learn in math because you actually have a use for them.

Spreadsheet is a great thing to be learning. I have started working with them more and have seen they can be used for so many things. Also they help save time becasue you can put in the formulas like the one you learnt and it does the calculations for you. This is a great thing to be learning in math.

Hi Melchor,

I think when you've given your scribe your best effort, it is absolutely good enough!!! Your description of what you learned about spreadsheets was clear to me! Thank you!

I don't know the strategy for multiplying 9 by 2 numbers. Is there a quick trick to doing that? Can you explain how to find 9x34 for me?

Thanks,
Lani

I didn't put the solution, how to multiply 9 by 2 because it's not very clear to me yet to explain....that why I decide not to put the solution!.....anyways! Thanks for the comments guys! I appreciate it!

Hi Melchor,

I'd be most appreciative if when the strategy is clear to you, you'd share it here in the comments with me!

Might asking your classmates or Mr. K. for some clarification be helpful?

I make this request because no one ever taught me these mental strategies and I'm trying to learn them along with you!

Thanks and best wishes,
Lani
