The Change Game

We've been working with money a lot in our class. This game may be helpful for you with your mental math and in life in general.

If you look closely at the picture below, you will see that I bought something that cost $90.83 and paid with a $1000.00 bill. I wanted to make sure the sales person gave me the right change. They had to give me 9 $100.00 bills, 1 $5.00 bill, 2 $2.00 coins, a dime, a nickel and two pennies.

Click on the picture to begin playing yourself and watch your mental math scores soar!

I really think this game is a neat and useful idea! It's nice to be able to see a visual of the money while trying to figure out the math! The better you can visualize your money in your head, the easier it will be to figure it out. Being able to visualize the money you are supposed to be getting back for change the next time you go shopping will be much easier and you will know that you are not getting "robbed" of change by the cashier. It will also be easier to keep track of the money you are spending, and to know just how much money you have left to spend on other goodies!
