Anyways, you can't change the past, you can only survive it. It has been a long five months, but this class is coming to an end. . . thank God. Anywhooo, as my last blogging on blogging will be on what I found easy and difficult.
Well, I found everything easy in this class. Sure, there were difficult questions here and there, but I solved through them.
I think for the things I found difficult, the only two things that come to mind are:
1) When do you have to convert ratios to have the same units?
2) Converting Imperial to Metric.
Other than that, I'm all good! I just have to remember the formulas however :\

Holy, how time flies! This is my second scribe post since September 10th. So, I might not be doing this as well as others.
Well first off, today, we started by coming into the class and chatting to the people that sit near us. We stood for O'Canada and sat back down. Class started with Mental Math, as usual. Remember, if you got something wrong, you should come back to the Blog and see where/how you got the question wrong. Everyone should be getting 9 or 10's!
After the Mental Math, Mr. Kuropatwa asked us if we liked working in groups or solo. With the awesome response he got, we were divided into groups and worked on many questions. We basically worked on Perimeter/Circumfrence and Area questions.
Right at the end of class, we quickly looked at the formulas for Surface Area and Volume.

In this section of Math, I found quite a lot of things interesting. However, one thing that has stuck with me was how you calculate the HST in the Atlantic Provinces.
Step 1: Look at the question. Does it have any Discounts or Other Items (More than one)
What is the total cost, including tax, of the socks and underwear, if the socks are $8.49 and the underwear is $14.88? There is a 20% discount on the items as well.
Step 2: If there are more than one item, add the items together. (If not, ignore this step)
$8.49 + $14.88 = $23.37
Step 3: If there is a discount, multiply the decimal form of the discount by the cost of the item(s), then subtract it from the cost of the item(s). (If no discount, ignore this step)
20% = 20 / 100 = 0.20
$23.37 x 0.20 = $4.67
$23.37 - $4.67 = $18.70
Step 4: Take the Sale Price (Cost after Discount) and multiply it by the decimal form of the HST.
14% = 14 / 100 = 0.14
$18.70 x 0.14 = $2.62
Step 5: Take the Tax and the Sale Price and add the two together. It will give you the Total Cost of the item.
$18.70 + $2.62 = $21.32
Step 6: You are completely done the question and you got very pricey socks and underwear ;) (But Holy God, that must be some pretty good socks and underwear)
Remember that if you are finding PST and GST, DON'T combine the two taxes when you calculate them. LEAVE THEM SEPARATED OR CONCEQUENCES WILL BE WAITING.

I found that the Multiplying Teens were useful to me. In Science, I had to multiply a few numbers with teens in them to find the total number of atoms or something. It was good that I finished that faster, than the other people who were using a calculator to find that answer. But the point is, I found the Multiplying Teens trick was really useful to me. It not only taught me something new, but it helped me in my other class.

Today in class, we started class off with 10 Rapid Math questions. After we finished, we got it corrected by other people and Mr. Kuropatwa took them in. After that, he put us in 6 groups of 3 or 4. For the rest of the class, we sat in our groups trying to find out what the errors were on a cheque, by correcting it on the Smart Board.
Mr. Kuropatwa also told us to become more active in class, other than sitting down. "Math is not a spectator sport!"
